EASIEST HOMEMADE PORK SOUVLAKI

Bursting with Mediterranean flavours, souvlaki is a traditional Greek dish that features succulent pieces of meat marinated in aromatic herbs and spices, grilled to perfection and served with warm pita bread and refreshing tzatziki sauce. In this recipe, we’ll guide you through the process of creating an easy and delectable homemade souvlaki using Halenda’s Meats Pork Tenderloin.

Marination Magic:

The secret to mouthwatering souvlaki lies in the marinade. Halenda’s Meats Pork Tenderloin serves as the star ingredient, boasting exceptional quality and tenderness. Before grilling, the pork is marinated in a blend of garlic, olive oil, freshly squeezed lemon juice, dried oregano, honey, salt, and pepper. This infusion of flavours works its magic, resulting in juicy and aromatic meat.

The Preparation:

Cut the Halenda’s Meats pork tenderloin into bite-sized pieces. The uniformity of the pork ensures even cooking and a delightful eating experience. Place the pork pieces in a bowl or a resealable plastic bag, and generously coat them with the flavourful marinade. Allow the meat to marinate in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours, or better yet, overnight. This extended marination time ensures that the pork absorbs the flavours deeply, resulting in a taste sensation that will tantalize your senses.

Grilling To Perfection:

When it’s time to sizzle up the souvlaki, preheat your grill to medium heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 20 minutes beforehand to prevent them from burning on the grill. Thread the marinated pork onto the skewers, leaving some space between each piece. This allows the heat to circulate evenly and ensures that the souvlaki cooks uniformly.

Grill the skewered pork for approximately 5-6 minutes per side. As the meat cooks, it develops a beautifully charred exterior while remaining tender and juicy inside. Keep a close eye on the souvlaki, adjusting the cooking time as needed based on the thickness of the pork pieces. The goal is to achieve a perfect balance between caramelized perfection and succulent tenderness.

It’s Time to Eat:

Once the souvlaki is cooked to perfection, remove it from the grill and allow it to rest for a few minutes. This resting period ensures that the juices redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in optimal flavour and texture. Serve your homemade souvlaki with warm pita bread or flatbreads to create delightful wraps or sandwiches. For an authentic Greek touch, accompany the souvlaki with creamy tzatziki sauce—a refreshing blend of yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and herbs that perfectly complements the smoky flavours of the grilled pork.
