French Onion Beef Sammies with Rich Au Jus – The Ultimate Dippable Sandwich
Equipment
- Instant Pot
Ingredients
- 2 lbs Halenda's Meats Beef roast
- 2 tbsp tallow or olive oil
- 2 onions sliced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 pkg of onion soup mix
- 3 cups beef broth
- 12 slices Swiss Cheese
- 2 baguettes
Instructions
- Set the Instant Pot to Sauté mode and add tallow. Once hot, brown the roast on all sides, then remove it from the pot and set it aside.
- Add the onion to the pot and cook for a few minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Stir in the spices and soup mix, mixing well to combine.
- Return the roast to the pot and pour in the broth, ensuring the meat is mostly covered. Close the lid and set the release valve to the Sealing position. Select the Meat/Stew function and cook for 1 hour.
- Once cooking is complete, allow a natural pressure release for 25 minutes, then turn the valve to manually release any remaining pressure.
- Remove the roast from the pot, slice it, and return it to the pot to soak in the juices.
- Cut the baguette into sandwich portions, then layer with Swiss cheese, sliced roast, and extra onions. Serve with the jus from the pot on the side for dipping.
