Making It Last: Halenda’s Dry-Cured Products
Halenda’s has a variety of long-lasting dried cured meats. Some of these are good on sandwiches, some make delicious pizza toppings. They’re perfect for a snack, or to savour during your favourite TV marathon.
Kabonosy is a long, thin, dry Polish pork sausage that’s smoked and then roasted. The name kabanos, or kabanosy in Polish, comes from the word ‘kabanek’, a nickname given to young fat hogs.
Flavour: Mild, seasoned to perfection with garlic and pepper.
If you like it slightly hot but not too hot, our chorizo sausage is for you.
This perfectly hot Chorizo Sausage combines coarsely chopped meat and spices. It’s blended with Hungarian paprika and jalapeno peppers that give it a kick of flavour before being dried to perfection.
The Buggy Whip is a popular European snack. It got its name because the shape is reminiscent of a whip commonly used with an 18th century horse and buggy.
The buggy whip is delicious, dried-cured and hearty, so it’s the perfect snack or lunch addition. Kids and parents love the taste.
Our buggy whip is award-winning. At the 2019 The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, Halenda’s Meats was declared the champion in the Dried and Cured Sausage competition for our Spicy Buggy Whips. Although our spicy Buggy Whips won the award, we have this product available in mild as well for those who prefer a more subtle flavour.
The buggy whip does not require refrigeration. Eat the whole piece or cut it up for a nibble – either way, we are sure you will love it.
Hunter Garlic Mild Smoked Pork Sausage
Hunter Garlic Mild Smoked Pork Sausage is a smoked, dried and cured pork sausage that is perfectly seasoned in a traditional style for a delicious garlicky flavour.
If you’re looking for something to do with the kids during the upcoming weeks, host a make-your-own-pizza party. The Hunter Garlic sausage is perfect on pizza, either with pepperoni or instead of it.
We also sell tomato sauce, cheese, and – at some Halenda’s locations – pizza dough and crusts.
Csabai is a Hungarian sausage and at Halenda’s, we use an old-world, authentic Hungarian recipe. Our csabai are seasoned with paprika, garlic and pepper, smoked, dried and fermented.
Pepperette Sticks (Mild/Hot)
Halenda’s Pepperoni Sticks are the perfect snack of dried and fermented ground pork and beef sausage naturally smoked with maple chips. High in protein and lightly seasoned for a mild taste. Available in hot or mild.
This Serbian pork sausage is a medium ground pork sausage containing a secret blend of old world spices, including paprika, black pepper and salt. At Halenda’s, we smoke it the old fashioned traditional way after it’s been it’s fermented and before being dried and cured.
