Raptor/Armadillo Egg Cooking Instructions

Our Raptor Eggs or also known as Armadillo Eggs have become an extremely popular product at Halenda’s Meats! The Raptor egg or Armadillo egg is made with sausage meat and is stuffed with cream cheese and a jalapeno. It is then wrapped in bacon, resulting in a delicious and indulgent treat that is perfect for anyone who loves the combination of sweet and savoury flavours. Let us do the work – all you have to cook and enjoy!

The biggest question is, how do you cook these delicious Raptor Eggs? It’s easy! There are 3 different ways we recommend cooking.


  1. Oven: Cook at 350°F for about 45 minutes until the internal temp reaches 165°. For the last 10 minutes of the cook, glaze on your favourite bbq sauce. Then let rest on the counter for 10 minutes. It’s that easy!

  2. Smoker (recommended): Set smoker to 250°F -275°F. Cook for Approximately  90 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°. In the Last 10 minutes of the cook, glaze on your favourite bbq sauce. Rest for 10 min on the counter after cooking, then ENJOY!

  3. Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F and cook Raptor Egg for 40 minutes. In the last 10 minutes, glaze with your favourite BBQ sauce or you can make a gravy on the side. Allow to rest and enjoy!
