Halenda’s Meats Gives Back to Durham Through Feed the Need
At Halenda’s Meats, we believe that a strong community is built on generosity, connection, and looking out for each other. Over the past year, we’ve had the privilege of supporting an essential organization right here in Durham: Feed the Need in Durham, our region’s Emergency Food Distribution Centre. Together with the support of our incredible community, we’ve donated over $22,000 worth of food to help feed those in need. Here’s a closer look at where these contributions go, who Feed the Need is, and how grateful we are to be part of this amazing community.
Who is Feed the Need in Durham?
Feed the Need in Durham is a non-profit, registered charity dedicated to hunger relief. This organization operates as an Emergency Food Distribution Centre, bridging the gap between food donors and local food relief programs. Serving as a central hub, Feed the Need distributes food to over 65 food relief programs across Durham. These programs include food banks, shelters, soup kitchens, and meal programs, each of which is committed to helping individuals and families in our region who are facing food insecurity.
With the rising cost of living, more families and individuals need food assistance than ever before. Feed the Need is vital in helping ensure that no one in Durham has to go hungry. By working with partners like us, they’re able to bring nutritious, wholesome food to the tables of those who need it most.
Where Does Our Donation Go?
When Halenda’s donates food to Feed the Need, we’re helping support a distribution system that ensures food reaches every corner of Durham. The donation of over $22,000 worth of food is used to supply essential items, from proteins and pantry staples to fresh, high-quality meats.
