Halenda’s Meats Celebrates Butchery Team Canada’s Incredible Performance at the World Butchers’ Challenge in Paris
Paris, France – The 2025 World Butchers’ Challenge brought together the best butchers from around the globe, and Butchery Team Canada proved that they belong among the elite. Halenda’s Meats is incredibly proud of the team’s outstanding performance, showcasing their skills and craftsmanship on an international stage.
Led by Co-Captains Peter Baarda and Taryn Barker, the team included esteemed members: Brent Herrington, Damian Goriup, Corey Meyer, Dave Vander Velde, with Ben Carson and Doug Easterbrook serving as alternates. Each member brought unparalleled dedication and expertise to the competition, reflecting the high standards of Canadian butchery.
We are particularly proud of the three World Champion Young Butcher competitors: Chris McNutt, Ronnie Keely, and Dylan Miediema. Their outstanding performances highlighted the bright future of Canadian butchery. Chris McNutt, representing Halenda’s Meats, showcased remarkable skill and dedication, making us especially proud. His achievements continue to inspire our entire team and community.
Halenda’s owners, Richard and Ola Halenda, along with some family members and Halenda’s store owners, made the journey to Paris to cheer on the team. They witnessed firsthand the precision, dedication, and artistry that Butchery Team Canada displayed throughout the competition. In our eyes, they couldn’t have done any better, we are beyond proud of their efforts and the way they represented Canadian butchery.
The team’s meat display was nothing short of breathtaking. Their stunning presentation reflected the exceptional talent and expertise that define Canadian butchery, reinforcing why our country’s butchers stand among the best in the world.
